Thing Two and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Thing Two has been looking rather shaggy lately, so we decided it was time for his first haircut. We took him to Li’l Klippers, where Thing One had his first haircut, and Sheila has been cutting his hair for almost as long.
Thing Two was intrigued by the rocket chair, with its distracting knobs and dials, and the little box of toys was looking tempting too, until we tried to put a drape on him. At that point, playtime was over as far as Thing Two was concerned. Sheila did a fantastic job trimming whenever and wherever she could, and when it was all over, Thing Two looked great, except for his teary eyes and pouty lower lip.
Li’l Klippers gives parents a cute “first haircut” souvenir card (which can be seen in the gallery), and it was fun to compare Thing Two’s card with Thing One’s experience ten years ago.
Gluttons for punishment that we are, our next appointment was at the photo studio for portraits of the boys. (Ten years between babies has made us senile.) After several attempts to get Thing Two to cooperate (and it’s amazing what the photographer accomplished under the circumstances), the photographer suggested that we try again in a few weeks. Stay tuned …

[...] Here’s the portrait from a couple of weeks ago. No, the studio didn’t chop off Thing One’s head; I just haven’t quite tailored Gallery’s thumbnail cropper the way I’d like, so please click on the photo to see it in all its glory. [...]
